We were approached in June by ArtBAB, held Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, with a goal of developing Bahrain Art Week in Paris (previously held in London and Moscow). The main idea was to find a prestigious venue in order to showcase the very first Bahrain Art Week in Paris. We gathered a team of efficient individuals and managed to successfully complete all challenges within a time frame of 3 months.
Studio visits were conducted in Bahrain in order to make a selection of artists to be shown, in which the curatorial idea was built around. We confirmed 177 artworks from 17 artists and found a link between each of the artists and based the exhibition on the theme The Legacy and Contemporary Memory. The venue was secured in the South East wing of the Grand Palais for a period of 3 days running from the 15th to the 17th September 2018. It was presented at the same time as The Paris Biennale, which drew in a wide array of collectors and industry professionals, an active time for the art scene in Paris.
Furthermore, ArtPremium dedicated a Bahrain Special Edition to the event, giving a wider perspective on the relatively unknown country and their cultural landscape, incorporating a spotlight of each artist presented at the exhibition. Whilst the artists were in Paris, we conducted a number of studio visits to renowned contemporary artists, as well as gallery visits, in order to build upon the cultural exchange and influence these extended activities would have on the artists themselves.
